My Wife and Best Friend Shirley

I have been married to my best friend Shirley since 1972. We are proud parents of 6 children (4 married) and grandparents of 6 wonderful grandchildren.

We moved to Australia from New Zealand in 1995 and have made Australia our home. Shirley and I were motivated by the idea of ‘making money work for us’ rather than us working for money and began property investment in order to secure our retirement lifestyle. We began with a strategy of buying and renovating units, progressing to house renovation and then to building ‘spec’ housing. Over the past 8 years we have renovated 9 units, 4 houses and are currently completing our fifth home construction. Retirement appears a long way off as we are having so much fun playing with property and helping others enjoy it too!

We have generally chosen to work within the lower third of the market because we perceive broader buyer/rental prospects. We get a real buzz out of contributing to the nation’s housing stocks while at the same time building our own personal wealth. In the process, the knowledge we have gained has been passed on to our family members and has enabled them to become property investors at an early age.

We are both committed Christians and seek to live out our Church’s motto , “Love God, Love People, Love Life”. We especially enjoy working with young couples and are privileged to be able to contribute through our church to the preparation of young couples for marriage.

I really enjoy thinking strategically about property investment and helping others develop their strategy. There are so many great opportunities out there for people and the obstacle to investment is often lack of knowledge.
