Be Ready… or as the old scout motto goes ‘Be Prepared’

I’d love a dollar for every time I’ve sat with someone who’s talking about a property deal they could have gotten into if only they were ready to act! How many people do you know that have said to you over the years… ‘Man, I wish I’d been set up to buy into that when it first came out!’

Shifting ‘status’ is really quite simple… there’s a funny thing that happens between our ears when we flick the switch from passively watching the world go past us (and seeing other people snap up opportunities) to the point where you actively decide ‘I need to be prepared to make the most of the next great property opportunity that comes my way’. As Dolf DeRoos says in his book Real Estate Riches, “The deal of the decade comes around every week”… my question is, where were you last week when that deal rolled by?

So what’s involved in being ready? It’s as simple as knowing what you have capacity to buy, knowing what sort of property you want to buy, knowing where you want to buy and then taking active steps to make sure you’re ready for that great opportunity as it stumbles across your lap (because you were smart enough to put your lap in the right place!).
